Sustainable Ocean Project in Sabah, Malaysia:
The Initiative of Secondary School Students to Protect the Future of Oceans
あきた地球環境会議は、マレーシア サバ州にて様々な環境活動を行ってきました。
2023年、マレーシアと日本でのグローバル環境リーダーを育成するための新しいプロジェクトが始動しました。
マレーシア サバ州の高校生を対象に、秋田で展開しているプラスチックごみ現況把握調査やそれに伴う環境教育をベースとし、地域文脈に則った環境保全と循環型社会形成、SDGs 達成のリテラシー向上を得た上で、加速度的な意識・行動変容の促進を目指す。更には、具体的かつ実践的なアプローチを用いた持続可能な海洋プラスチックごみ対策の定着を図る。また、マレーシア政府の意向や動向を反映した形の環境教育を通しては、マレーシアと日本でのグローバル環境リーダーが育成され、本事業がベストプラクティスとして波及することを目指す。

Venue: Environment Protection Department Sabah, Malaysia, Meeting Room
The working team shared the outcomes of environmental education in Saba for 2025 and the results of the questionnaire survey.Subsequently, detailed discussions were held regarding the structure of awareness materials and supplementary textbooks, their target audiences, and the production schedule.
渡航活動期間中の環境教育に関する成果共有及びアンケート調査結果等をワーキングチームで共有し、その後、啓発物及び副読本の構成と訴求ターゲットや作成スケジュールに関して詳細を協議した。
■R.O.D. (Record of Discussion) :
Regarding the supplementary reader for awareness-raising tools, it was agreed to include this project's “High School Student Initiative” at the beginning of the explanatory book alongside the environmental education content currently under development by EPD.
It was also agreed to distribute it throughout the entire province and utilize it in classroom instruction.
啓発ツールのsupplementary readerに関しては、現在EPDが開発中の環境教育コンテンツと併せて説明Bookの冒頭へ本Projectの「高校生イニシアチブ」を記載することで合意した。併せて、全州域へ配布し授業内で活用する計画で合意した。
▶Supplementary Textbook Creation Schedule:
- ➊ Japanese version completed by end of November 2025
- ➋ English translation and verification completed by end of December 2025
- ➌ First draft by end of February 2026
- ➍ Final version by mid-March 2026

SERASI AWARD CEREMONY 2025 in SABAH
At Sabah State‘s “Traditional Environment Contest,” the Conference of Earth Environment from Akita ／CEEA（Environmental NGO）－which has collaborated with the Sabah State Government for over a decade－presented two awards this time: the “Climate Change Action Award” and the “SDGs Award” to outstanding environmental practice schools within Sabah.
